I always wondered why store-bought salsa never quite matched the taste of restaurant salsa—until I discovered Mateo's. At last, a salsa that tastes as fresh as the ones at your favorite restaurant. Their label had several great elements: bold colors, a fun cartoon pepper mascot, and a catchy tagline. However, I felt the label needed a slight refresh to better reflect the exceptional quality of the salsa inside.
I started by updating the typography to be bolder and adjusting the text layout for a smoother visual flow. The jalapeño character was redrawn with thicker lines to align with the updated logo. While I preserved Mateo's vibrant colors and all existing text to maintain brand identity, I reorganized the information to enhance readability so it pops off the shelves in stores. If you haven’t tried Mateo’s yet, I highly recommend it!
